WE ARE COMING BACK! But with that means adapting to new guidelines. The following outlines our new policies and procedures, effective immediately. These plans are fluid and may change as we get closer to the season. Make sure you are signed up to receive emails in order to stay up to speed.

The current health crisis has disrupted much of what we knew as normal in high school sports. In the wake of this pandemic, new norms have developed; many more will emerge over the course of the summer and fall semester. Despite the challenges and uncertainty COVID-19 has thrown at us, Dakota Ridge Volleyball has responded.
 
CHSAA and Jeffco Athletics set the rules for return to play, which incorporates State of Colorado and Jefferson County general safer-at-home and social distancing rules. 
 
Volleyball has been designated a moderate risk sport. The Dakota Ridge Volleyball plan is outlined below.

Phase 1 - Strength and Conditioning - June 22 - July 3 Outside

• Strength and Conditioning trainings June 22 - July 3 - this is completely optional, and not mandatory for any player
  • Located at Water's Edge - click here for a map
    • Please park in the gravel lot, not the parking lot by the tennis courts
  • Mondays and Wednesdays
  • Mornings OR Afternoons
  • There will be no equipment
• Players will signup for morning OR afternoon sessions - they cannot mix and match mornings and afternoons
  • A session is 4 days - Mondays and Wednesdays for 2 weeks (June 22nd, June 24th, June 29th, July 1st)
  • Cost is $10.00 for 4 days (not $10.00 per day)
  • Mornings = 8:30 am check in, 9:00-10:00 am workouts
  • Afternoons = 6:30 pm check in, 7:00-8:00 pm workouts
  • Players can ONLY attend mornings or ONLY attend afternoons - they CANNOT attend some of each
• If a player wants to participate at any point during these sessions, they MUST sign up from the beginning, even if they can't attend the first session
  • If they have not signed up and want to participate later, they will not be allowed
  • Example - if a player wants to do morning sessions, but can't attend on June 22nd, they still MUST sign up for morning sessions, and then attend on the next available morning slot.
• If a player cannot attend all sessions - that's ok!
  • Even if a player cannot attend all sessions, but wants to participate in some of them, they need to sign up
  • The intent of the signups is to keep all of the same group of kids together. If that means that there are less players some days, that's ok. 
• Waivers are required! 
  • Waivers MUST be printed at home, SIGNED BY HAND (not your computer or any other electronic means) and emailed back to us
  • There will NOT be waivers available at the park. If your player does not have a waiver turned in electronically by the due date they will NOT be allowed to participate.
• Face coverings are required!
  • Players must meet the coach wearing a face covering, and may only remove it after they've been given permission
  • If you need a face covering, we are selling them to raise funds for the program. You can purchase them here. You may be able to pick up your order instead of waiting to have it shipped. Please text Jeana Simpson at 303-870-5408 if you would like to pick yours up.

Hello parents and players! We hope this email finds you well! It's been great to see so many players participating in the GroupMe and Zoom meetings! And we love all of the activity happening on Google Classroom assignments.  

It's been a while since we've been able to provide any news to you about our upcoming season, but now we have some!

• Parent / Player Zoom meeting Wednesday June 17th 6:30 pm
  • There will be a parent / player Zoom meeting on Wednesday June 17th at 6:30 pm. Coach Terry will be on the meeting starting around 6:00 pm, but the meeting will begin at 6:30 pm.  
  • This meeting is mandatory for players who are planning on attending any of the summer activities. Parents are strongly encouraged to attend this meeting too, as the coaches will be discussing COVID-19 protocol and safety procedures. 
  • Coaches will also be discussing, in more detail, the phased approach of getting back together to be able to practice. Below is a very brief outline of what the plans are going forward. Of course, all of the information below could change due to state or county orders.

• We are coming back in phases

We are excited to start the slow process of being able to meet as a group again! We will be implementing workouts and training phases as county ordinances allow. Each Phase will cost $10.00 per player, which will go to the coaches for their time.

• Phase 1 - June 22nd - July 3rd 
  • Summer Workouts - outside | $10.00/player
    • These workouts will be led by the coaches at Waters Edge on Mondays and Wednesdays, either in the morning (8:30 am check in, 9:00am -10:00am) or in the afternoon (6:30 pm check in, 7:00 pm-8:00 pm) sessions. Players must report at the check in time for their session for attendance, temperature checks, waivers, etc (8:30 am and 6:30 pm)
      • In order to follow contact tracing guidelines, coaches will be keeping groups of kids together, and therefore we are requiring players to sign up using the Signup Genius . The link to sign up will be sent Thursday June 18th.
      • Players may not attend a session they did not sign up for. 
      • Players must sign up by June 21st. If they want to participate but have not signed up by that date, we will post the workouts online and in the Google Classroom and they can do them on their own. 
      • If a player signed up for the morning sessions, they can only attend the morning sessions on Mondays and Wednesdays, and CANNOT attend ANY afternoon session. They don't have to attend all 4 sessions, but they are not permitted to attend additional or other sessions instead. 

• Phase 2 - July 8th - July 17th
  • Small Group Sessions - inside | $10.00/player
    • As currently planned, coaches will be able to meet with the girls inside, 3 days a week, and will be able to use equipment (balls, nets, etc). We will update you when more information becomes available.

• Phase 3 - July 20th forward
  • Larger Group Sessions - inside | $10.00/player
    • As currently planned, coaches hope to be able to begin practicing regularly with all of the girls. We will update you when more information becomes available.

• Masks and Neck Gaiters
  • Face coverings will be required beginning June 22nd. We are recommending neck gaiters, as they can be easily dipped in water to help keep you cool, in addition to providing some protection. If you still need a face covering, we are selling masks and gaiters to raise funds for the volleyball program; you can purchase them here.  

• Watch your email for more information on Thursday
  • We will be sending an email on Thursday containing links to the Signup Genius, a link to the recorded Zoom meeting, and more. 

• Get an updated physical
  • Make sure your player has an updated physical. Tryouts will be happening in August, and players who do not have a current physical will not be allowed to tryout. Download the physical form to have your doctor sign.
  • Ultimate Health Medical Clinic, near Wadsworth and Bowles is offering physicals for $30.00, and $10.00 of that is donated back to our program. Click here for a flyer with details.

• DRHS registration opens July 24th
  • This is where you'll upload that physical form the doctor signed. 

• Freshmen or first time athletes to DRHS
  • If you have a freshman or new athlete to DRHS, you'll need to create an account on the CHSAA platform. You might not be able to do this until after July 24th.
